Will try to keep this short, but running out of ideas here..

My girlfriend lost her phone on a trip, so I gave her my spare 6S+ that was laying around until she can get a new phone. Restored it with her latest back-up that I had.

Anywho.

Got her a new phone now but the 6S+ is refusing to backup at all.

iTunes to computer won't work, it keeps saying that the phone disconnects? (although it doesn't)
It used to say there was not enough space on the computer.. which there IS enough space on the computer..

iCloud won't work, says it's preparing to back-up but then never progresses past that.
(I've tried signing out and signing back in. Nope.)

I updated the phone to 12.4 to do the phone-to-phone data migration, and while it recognizes the other phone and lets me set it up just fine, it goes to the "Preparing to migrate" screen and never progresses.

No idea what is going on here and no idea what I can do to fix it.

I downloaded a program that repairs the iOS (essentially just reinstalls it but doesn't hurt your data)

I've also reset her settings and whatnot, but nope. Nothing seems to remedy the issue.. and she can't switch to her new phone until she is able to back this one up.

Any ideas?

for iCloud backups, the iPhone needs to be plugged into power to work. If it's not, it'll look like its backing up but will fail with an error message every time. Also sometimes iCloud backup just doesn't work when you want it to. Trying again later can often be the key.

Have you tried to back up with smth like iMazing? Just check with free version if not, they have more celar error messages and a console with logs that you can check.

p.s. Just checked the date of your post... Hope you've fixed this already!
