Hi everyone,

I found this in the UK at Carphone Warehouse; is it true?
Does it happen to all iPhones or just to those sold by this retailer?

Yeah if you want a truly unlocked iPhone buy it directly from Apple. Better customer service as well.

I wouldn't go as far as "better customer service", but is good to know that buying directly from them is truly unlocked.

Their customer service in the Apple Stores in the UK is one of the worst I've experienced in my life

Oh bit surprised at that tbh. When I've gone in to the Norwich store the service has always been great.

My experience with my MacBook Pro at Covent Garden was a disaster, even worse the follow-up online and with people in corporate.

After 7 interactions, and even at the Genius Bar, there is no clear explanation of what the problem could be and what has caused it, being the only solution to pay £350 to change the screen, and not giving guarantee that this would solve the issue.

The manager was extremely insulting, he didn't intend to solve the situation. He told me he did not care about providing a good customer experience and to explore the problem on a deeper form.

After that experience, I stopped being a Fanboy...

Well, you still get the same customer service from Apple after purchasing whether or not you purchased from them originally.

I meant better service if something breaks after standard warranty has ended. I've found Apple tends to be best when it comes to consumer rights claims compared to other retailers. I should have put that in my previous post.

You could still take it to Apple before or after warranty expires--they are the manufacturer so the same type of service would be provided basically.

If a product break after warranty here in the UK you have to go back to the retailer when you purchased the product if you want to make a consumer rights claim. Consumer Rights have nothing to do with the manufacturer of the product unless you bought the product from them.
