iPhone Checkered Screen Problem Fixed?

I have an iPhone that i bought on june 29th with the effected 7 series screen and I've always noticed the white dots on the screen. But yesterday my brother bought a iPhone and the first thing i did was to check if the screen had any white dots. i didnt see any so i assumed that he got a 5 seies. so i went into field test mode (*3001#12345#*) to double check the screen version, and it was a 7 series. so then why didn't i see any dots? the screen also seemed a little darker to me on full brightness. so i looked very closely on his screen and... i saw the dots, but they were BLACK! not white, black. they were not noticeable at all when i looked at it normally. Can anyone confirm this with another recently bought 7 series iPhone? you have to look very closly in a dark room. also the speaker and earpeice are louder. wtf. i would try to take pictures, but my camera is not very good with closeups. sorry.

I bought an iPhone 2 days ago. It has a 7 series screen and no dots! This is my second iPhone, my 1st was purchased on day one and it has the white dots. Both have the 7 series screen.

Now that the white dots issue is fixed you'd think everything is fine now right? Well NO!

These new screens that apple is using are unable to display blacks correctly! This is the same issue that people are reporting with the iPod touch!!

I wish people would start posting the FULL Panel ID (i.e 7455232) instead of just whether it's a 7 or 5 series. There are at least two "7-series" displays, meaning at least two LCD vendors with an ID that starts with 7. If people posted full Panel IDs, we'd have a better idea of what panels have which characteristics.

And don't worry, the Panel ID is not a serial number and does not uniquely identify your iPhone. Multiple iPhone will have the same Panel ID. The number only identifies the vendor and/or the revision of LCD panel that was used.

mind elaborating on the two different 7 series panels? what are the two different full panel id's and which one is the newer one?

Yes, please post both. As far as I have read there is only one of each, but its been a while since I looked into this subject.

same issues as touch

I have a 7 series screen as well and went into the store for the first time today to compare my screen to other iphones. Using the video they had on demo, The Fray, how to save a life. My screen shows the same "film negative" affect as the the ipod touches they had in the store. The iphones had no dots and the blacks were all solid without the flickering look to the black areas.

When I asked one of the "geniuses" at the bar, he said it was within the spec and they wouldn't do anything about it. He didn't seem to care at all. After downloading the video from the store, it's clear that all blacks on my iphone are unwatchable. I had ripped the movie "Identity" from my DVD collection and that's when I first noticed that in dark scenes all detail was lost and everything looked like I was at a weird angle to an LCD screen.

I'm going to call on monday. Something is definitely not right with my screen
