I doubt many people are going to believe me, because I never took time to inquire about it, nor take a picture for proof. But its interesting so im letting you know what I saw today.

As I was driving to court this afternoon I saw a big bulletin sign saying
"iPhone coming "very soon"
See in store for details!"
but GASP! that sign was outside of a Bell store.

I also find it interesting that they quoted: very soon. does this mean they are just speculating that they will be able to sell the iPhone soon?

Tomorrow if i have time ill actually go in the store and try to get their details. Although im sure they dont know anything more then anyone on these forums does.

I live in Medicine Hat, Alberta. In case anyone else lives there and happens to have seen this sign.

no secret here... both Bell and Telus have announced they will be carrying the iPhone, probably as early as this Thursday-ish timeframe, thanks to their new HSPA network they're building.

No ideas on pricing for the phone or plans yet.

Tim

Telus and Bell will be launching the iPhpne 3g and 3gs this week. Telus has announced their pricing @ $99 for the 3g and $199/$299 for the 16/32 gig 3gs. Same pricing as Rogers.

yep, agreed that actual phone pricing would be the same as what you find with Rogers/Fido currently. It will be interesting to see what the new plans bring....

....in other iPhone (Canadian) news, Rogers and Fido have just recently allowed outright purchase of iPhones as well, I would guess to help combat the Telus/Bell iPhones that will hit the market

Tim

Very strange OP... I first found out about the pricing structure for the phones themselves by signing up with both Bell and Telus for iPhone related news. I already have one, so I'm more interested in the plans myself. If they're really coming the 4 and 5th we should have the plans soon right?
Edit: November 5 is official for Telus.

Yeah we will have the plans any day now. iphoneincanada released the rumoured plans if its true I will be phoning rogers and asking for discounts.

I've checked that website as well and the rumored plans sounds ok if is true. I should probably call Fido retention department for some sort of discount

In other news, Telus is dropping its $6.95 System Access Fee and non-governmental 911 fee from all new plans. Existing customers will have to switch out of their old plan into a new one to see the change.

Rogers recently did something similar - but instead of dropping the fee altogether, they replaced it with a "Regulatory Recovery Fee" that varies in price depending on your place of residence, from $2.46 to $3.46. They say the fee, while not a direct tax, is necessary to cover the expense they incur in complying with government regulation. Again, existing customers would have to switch out of their current plan into a new plan to see the effect. (The base rate for all the new Rogers core plans will be $5 higher than the equivalent plan was before the fee change.)

Hey everyone!
I want to get the iPhone today which came out with bell however i live and go to school in thunderbay during the school year and on their coverage maps it looks like they dont cover the area. is it possible to find some legal contract loophole that lets me get out of my contract without paying the $400 cancellation charges so that i can get out and switch to rogers which does cover thunderbay?

Umm... buy the iphone from Rogers (which offers it)?

I just tried to configure a 16GB 3GS bundle on Bell.ca. None of their plans even mentioned anything like Caller ID, Visual Voicemail, etc. I found them as a Fun Bundle, for no less than $20 a month: "Add this feature to your Combo plan for iPhone, to get Call Display, Message Centre, Visual Voicemail, and 250 sent and unlimited received text messages within Canada or from Canada to the U.S." (Telus offers VV in its cheapest [rumoured] plan.) Also, this plan only offers 250 sent texts? Wow.
I attempted to chat with Bell online, which they say was closed, and opens at 8am ET. I'm in ET, and it's 9:20. I guess I'm not buying a Bell iPhone.

The 250 texts is not a good move by bell. I priced it out and sadly rogers is still cheaper then bell for the iPhone.
