Hey,
Had my iPhone for around 11 months now, and my final month of free internet is looming.
I always use the free internet, so need another SIM.
If I unlock it, is there an easy way to get free internet?
I've seen on eBay some iPhone SIM's, but they're £50+, or bidding only.
I'd like to receive some information as to how to get the internet on my iPhone.
It's currently away for repair, but should come back soon (Maybe as a 3Gs :D), so I can try anything any day soon.
Thanks
Joseph Duffy

Can you not migrate to the iPhone Simplicity tariff? You keep you same number and have unlimited internet. Its also cheaper than the standard contracts.

It's not strictly free, when you buy a PAYG phone over here, O2 at least give you 12 months of Internet in exchange for a much higher price for the handset, but yeah you guys do get ripped off by AT&T heh :)

I would say Stridemat's option would be best for you, SIMplicity for iPhone does seem a pretty good deal :)

But you could look around... Vodafone on PAYG does Internet for 50p/day for 25mb. Not a huge amount but thats still approx 750mb a month depending on how many days a month you pay the fee :)

Orange do free internet on Dolphin if you top up £10 a month, but only 50mb, not really much use for an iPhone I wouldn't think.

You could ask O2 if they would put you on the Text & Web package, all you need to do is top up £15/month and get free unlimited texts and web access, I don't know if they'd put you on this from the iPhone PAYG plan, and I guess you'd lose Visual Voicemail (you'd lose that moving networks anyway) You wouldn't need to pay the £15 unlock fee for this option.

Three give you 150mb with each top up, you could top up £5 at a time to get more I guess.

T-Mobile do internet for £1 a day, or £2.50 for 5 days.

I got all this from each operators website, just have a look around and see what deal is going to be best for you.

The only way you're going to keep your Web and WiFi you currently get is to cough up the O2 monthly fee for the Bolt On or move to SIMplicity for iPhone.

Hope this has helped a little, but you're going to have to do some research to figure it out for you :) Let us know what you decide :)

Unless pence are worth more than I think they are.

Currently £1.00 is approx $1.60US.. So about $0.80c :) It's pretty good :) If I could put up with an out of date handset PAYG would save me a fortune, however I know when my contract runs out in June '11 I'll be ready to upgrade to probably the 5th Gen iPhone by then lol :)

Or you could just stay on O2 PAYG and pay £10 a month for unlimited data & wi-fi. ;)

*Unlimited data and Wi-Fi
Data usage whilst roaming not included. Unlimited Wi-Fi is available at any of the 9,500 Wi-Fi hotspots from our partners The Cloud and BT Openzone. Excessive usage policy and full terms apply. At the end of the twelve month free period you will start to be charged £10 per month for the Unlimited Web and Wi-Fi Bolt On. We'll send you a text communication at the end of the twelve month free period to inform you that your free Bolt On is coming to an end and give you advice on how to opt out if required.

Could do that, but if going to stay with O2 I'd think it's better to go with Simplicity for iPhone paying £20 for Internet, Wifi, 600 Mins and 1,200 texts rather than £10 for Internet, Wifi and then calls and texts on top of that (unless the OP uses his iPhone for nothing other than Internet or is under 18 and cannot take up the 30 day rolling contract?)

I thought that tariff was only available for iPhone owners who's O2 contract had just expired. Have they changed the rules and let anyone have it now?

You can get a PAYG SIM on ebay. Or you can get the rolling Simplicity contract (Which you can use on a PAYG phone)

Can't you get anything if you call up and ask for a PAC code? lol

Thanks for the information guys, I've got around 6 weeks so I can wait to see for any coming on eBay.
If not, I might do the £15 per month Unlimited Internet Plan on o2. I'd happily unlock my iPhone, but not paid, but wouldn't jailbreak it, so it may be hard, and slightly illegal xD
Thanks very much for the ideas, I'll consider them all closer to the date.
