Can anyone give a comparison of the iPhone as a gaming device against it's virtual competitors, the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS?

How they compare on processor power, graphics, controls, etc.

If the iPhone's horse power equal the others it can maybe sometime become a portable gaming device like PSP or DS. The only think we will need is a kind of peripherial that will add all the buttons needed to play a game. And it already has a camera, a microphone, a speaker, internet connection, etc... all you need to create a complete gaming experience.

Since Microsoft is already in the videogame market, why Apple couldn't?

Please, don't just start killing me and view this idea as a possible future for the iPhone, to see where we end.

AFAIK the iPhone doesn't have a dedicated graphic processor. Procesor speed iPhone wins. Game controls, well it could emulate an analog stick, but I don't know how effective that is (I didn't like it on the DS). Games would have to be small, as there is no external storage.

How well would it do as a game platform? Well until it drops to 199, not very well. Apple could get into the game market, but I think their ego is still smarting from the Pippin. Apple also has to be willing to sell the hardware at a loss, which I highly doubt would ever happen. I know Nintendo doesn't, but nothing Ninentdo has is as complex as the iPhone.
