iPhone connector output is low

I noticed the other day that my iPhone seems really quiet when connected to my stereo in the car. I have a scion xB with the iPod ready head unit. the iPhone is connected using the PIN cable directly to the head unit. Everything seems to work fine. I have no problems controling the iPhone through the head unit. The sound level just seems really really low.

just wondering if any one else has noticed this?

Same here with my Lincoln and the iPod 30-pin interface. I noticed though at times it is loud. But normally I can have the volume ALL the way up and its very tolerable!Y et from a CD source, I would blow my ears out!

Once thing I did notice is that it is dependent on the headphone volume. So plug in the headphones and turn them ALL the way up, then unplug them and dock the phone to the car. This worked for me. If I had the headphone volume low, it was equally low in the car.

Either way, the output is very low and less than normal line out.

I tried the headphone trick, but i did not notice any difference. I did try my wife's iPhone and it was the same volume. My mini sounds a lot louder when plugged in. I also have an iHome H6 clock radio and the iPhone sounds about right when docked. Maybe the car stereo just has bad/missed wiring. I would not mind 'upgrading' my car stereo if the iPhone played at a decent level. anyways, i will keep using the mini in the car until it gets figured out.

Do you have sound check on? I just turned mine off and it got a ton louder!

i will have try that tonight. The would make sense... I will also check my ipod's setting too.

i turned Sound Check off and it now sounds normal. i feel dumb for missing that one, though i did play with early with my head phone and did not notice a difference.
