Iphone - connects to Ipad as camera?

Subject pretty much says it all, but I'll explain in detail anyway. With the USB/dock dongle, will the Iphone connect to the Ipad as a camera for access to pictures taken with the Iphone? This would be extremely handy if I take the Ipad and Iphone (along with other cameras) on trips and can just leave the MBP at home, using the Ipad to upload photos to various sites and email to family at the hotel. I know the Iphone shows up as a camera on, you know, "regular" computers, but I haven't seen this mentioned with regards to the Ipad.

While I'm at it, any idea if the USB dongle will read something like a Flip video camera? Not a deal breaker by any means, I didn't expect it, but it would be especially cool if it did.

Doesn't email scale down the photos from their original resolution?

Not sure why the original poster can't just do all that sharing from his iphone.

Email does scale (half full resolution, I believe,) and if we take a lot of pictures, it's kind of a heavy load to receive on their end, and, frankly, kind of a lot of annoying work on my end. I'm just curious if this would be a simple solution to moving a bunch of pictures at one time to mobileme through the Ipad's Iphoto app.

Brilliant. Add to dropbox on iphone, open from dropbox on ipad. Could do the same wiht mobileme.

The necessary iPad app is ALREADY in the App Store!

You do not even have to connect the iPhone and iPad via USB. You can do it wirelessly via Bluetooth or WiFi. The necessary iPad app is ALREADY in the App Store (a companion app is needed on the iPhone):

I think if you have an ipad your gonna need an iphone to do alot of the cool stuff. I bet it eventually just lets it be its camera for all the picture apps, adding in pictures for address books, plus more cool stuff like the scrabble app.

Who the heck said anything about a tripod? Just hold the damn iPhone in your hand and point it like you do now. The live image appears on the iPad.

Should work GREAT if you want to hold the iPhone way up over your head to take a photo. You can hold the iPad in the other hand as your remote viewer to help frame the shot.

Apple already states on the product page that this works. iPad will import the Camera Roll from iPhone using the optional adaptor.

Exactly. That's the stupidest idea ever. Why would you want to hold an ipod and and ipad in your hands just to take a picture??? First, you'd look like an idiot. Second, you will have a hard time taking the shot holding the iphone in one hand.

This is only useful for cameras mounted on a tripod where you can remotely control the camera with the ipad.

The Camera Connector features a USB interface. Just plug it into the dock connector port on your iPad, then attach your digital camera or iPhone using a USB cable (not included).

An iPhone just shows up as a regular camera in iPhoto, so it makes sense that it would do the same in the iPad Photos app.
