I just jailbroke my iPhone 3G for the first time, and it worked just fine, but I lost all my contacts, saved text conversations, etc.

I have all my old apps, but I desperately need to get my contacts back somehow, is there any way to do this?

Perhaps you missed a key step, which is to restore from saved profile.

Did you not back then up in Contacts (OS X) or Outlook (Windows) first?

Did you make a Backup before you restored. If you did then just restore again and dont setup as new phone select restore from backup and select the backup that contains your contacts and SMS messages

No, I didn't back up the contacts beforehand. I made a backup before I restored, but when I loaded that backup, all I got was my apps. I assume that means they're gone forever?
