iPhone could be an AppleTV Remote

What do you all think of this? Essentially the idea is that iphone could be an Apple TV remote? Or that too a Universal remote -- like logitech's harmony

I read somewhere a while back that the iPhone could be not only a remote for Apple TV but Universal remote for TV, VCR etc like the logitech harmony.

If it has an IR thingy on it, this seems quite plausible.
