Anyone got any idea why I'm getting this so consistently this evening? Could this be an upgrade on o2's part to edge?

I've tried a reset, a turn off, a restore - not sure on other ideas, anyone got any?

I'm getting tired of O2's outages ....

Yeah me too. This is at least the 4th time in the last 2 weeks (twice in the last 3 days) that I've seen a prolonged outage (hours rather than minutes) of the data network on O2. My girlfriend's blackberry is also hooked up to O2 so I can verify it's the network and not the phone. A couple of these were certainly on a national scale given the forum postings related to them. In the past I've also seen PDP Authentication failures.

As a consumer this is annoying - it's more noticeable on the iPhone since it relies on it (in the absence of wifi) and the Visual Voicemail doesn't work without it - I couldn't have cared less with my last phone. However, if I was a business user (all our company directors and support staff use bbs on O2) and seeing these outages I'd be demanding compensation.

An occasional outage I can understand (esp for upgrading the network) - what I don't understand is a) the frequency of the outages and b) if these are scheduled then maybe 3am would be a better time to take down the network.

I had this issue too, put it down to maintenance, wasnt too bothered as it was late... I voted to get some sleep and listened to the iPod instead of watching youtube vids.
