Well today my iphone acted strange and crashed. I was on the phone and then sent a text to a friend and then I hit the sleep button and then I wanted to use it and the the phone was non-responsive and would go to my second screen of apps. I tried to touch some buttons and then on my way home I just turned it off completely and restarted it and the phone works fine now

How common are iphone crashes? I bought the phone on Jan. 2 and I am using the latest OS. What does a restore do? Is this normal every once in awhile. Should I exchange for a new iphone? I know the iphone is a computer and computers can crash.

What does a restore do? What will I lose?

it's good to turn off/restart your iphone once awhile. reset/turn off will clear the buffer

OK, I did that yesterday at the doctor's office and today it acted this way as I hit the button to take it out of the sleep mode. What was wierd was that it would go to the second screen of apps and my phone, mail, safari, and ipod icons weren't on. When it happened I tried to slide to unlock. Maybe that had something to do with it. I could put the phone back into sleep mode and then take it out of sleep, but it would only go to the second screen of apps and the mail, phone, ipod, and safari icons would not appear and I could not do anything with the phone.

I was almost prepared to go back to the att store and get a new phone. I guess I'll live and learn. It still freaked me out a bit as I have never had this happen with a cell phone before but I realize that the iphone is more than a cellphone.

Tonight I've been able to text and take and make calls and downloaded the weather channel app. But I assume that this crashing is not supposed to happen.
