A couple months ago I dropped my iPhone on the concrete. With just my luck a tiny piece of gravel was sticking up out of the ground and my phone received a small gash very close to the camera. A couple weeks ago after buying a rubber case for my iPhone to cover the damage, I dropped it again while walking down the stairs. The phone fell out of my hand and landed face down onto the hardwood (It fell about 3 feet). I wasn't too worried while reaching down for my phone but then realized after turning it over that the screen was very blurry. I think that the technical term for what it looks like is "color banding." I scheduled an appointment at the Genius Bar the next day and the guy told me he would repair it, IF there wasn't the gash on the silver backing. So I went home sad. Is there ANYTHING that I can do about this? Anything to fill in the gash to make it unnoticeable? Anyway to find out if it is a wire that came loose? Or how to fix it? Thank You.

LOL! When I saw the title of your thread, I thought, "Oh great, someone from the UK dropped their iPhone 3G and broke it already."

The only thing you can do is get a new one or try to get a different answer from a different Genius Bar genius. (or buy a v1 iPhone on ebay)
