Iphone + delete =?

Both. There is a Mail.app on my iPhone and one on my iMac. The mobile version is just slimmed down for mobile use.
Yea I started having this issue today. If you try to delete the message from the me.com interface the page refreshes and then the messages are deleted. Its weird.
This delete problem is pretty annoying. They better fix this. Why would someone want to have to delete the mail on the iphone and the web version of me.com in order to clean out their mailbox.
Right, and who knows what really happens to the mail? i.e. does it get deleted twice or deleted forever.... APPLE, PLEASE FIX!
This is typical of how IMAP servers work - deleted messages are marked as deleted but kept in the inbox until a separate process actually removes them (called expunge). Most mail clients have a way of hiding messages marked for deletion, but the me.com interface doesn't. On me.com when you go back and re-delete the first deleted message, that forces an expunge. I would think it would be very easy to implement this on me.com, if anyone can ever get the programmers attention to do it. I've sent two support requests in on this, but been ignored completely by Apple. If a programmer would just spend 10 minutes on it, it could be fixed. Just filter out the messages marked for deletion from the display and add an expunge button (or just do an auto-expunge). Most IMAP clients have this built in - Thunderbird, Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.
I agree with most of what you said but there is a little more going on with the iPhone and IMAP. If you delete on iPhone or other IMAP Clients the messages are marked as deleted and the message is placed into the deleted message folder (all clients seem to have a different name). If you PURGE (or whatever it is called) them in the IMAP Client (Outlook and others) the messages are removed from MM, except if you do it on the iPhone.
If you delete on iPhone you will see them in the Trash (or delete) folder of all clients (iPhone seems to move to the Trash Folder). Then if you delete on the iPhone they will not be removed from MM "until" you go into Outlook (or other IMAP Client) then the messages are then removed from Outlook and then they are removed from MM. I assumed it was a timing thing but all my testing seems to be an EXTRA iPhone Problem.
Yep all day I delete messages and they do not get moved to the trash on the web application. This better get better quick or I ain't payin' for it.
I think they are actually placed in the Trash Folder but NOT removed from the InBox.
How is it possible that they did not catch this during their testing phase. I can understand that without doing a hugh beta that they could not test the scalability of MobileMe (maybe) or all of the different MAC and PC configurations (probably) but this is something that almost seems that it is by design. Again, I can not figure out how they could have missed it.
