Iphone deletes all edits and modifications to pictures!

I have an Iphone 5s on the newest update iOs 11.3.1. A couple of days ago I noticed that pictures edited on my Iphone were reset automatically after a couple of minutes! Not only in the images edited by apple pictures but also in the file of the editing app I use (Snapseed).
I do not use the iCloud backup, but Google Pictures instead, I dont know if that affects it in any way.
I would appreciate any help or tips on why this keeps happening!

When you edit an image on your phone the edits are saved to a file (.AEE) while the original is untouched. If you want to see the edited image in an application that doesn't recognise this (which is most) then you'll need to email the photo to yourself.
