Hey guys,

I recently turned 18 and have no credit history whatsoever. I was under the influence that I would need to make a deposit but when I ordered an iphone+plan online there was nothing said about any sort of deposit needed. Does anyone know if I somehow got a chance to slide or if I will get hit with a deposit later on down the line.

Thanks

if your order was completed they can't hit you with a deposit later. now if your order is still under review they may come back and ask for more information and say that you need to put down a deposit.

You have nothing at all in your name? No type of loan, some kind of card, nothing?

I remember when I first put my cellphone under my name about 4 years ago (I was 18 too) I didn't have to pay any deposit either and all I had was a bank account with a Debit/Credit card.

Just wait and see mate, No credit history does not allways equal bad credit history. And alot of companys take a chance on someone whos getting credit for the first time.

If You were accecpted, Then you must be getting the phone.

Maybe you should check your credit history to see if someone is using your Social Security number?

Well the att shop website that someone sent me to to check to see if i would need a deposit said yes i would. but when i got to att to just order the phone it goes through fine.

Let's just put it this way. You'll know if they want a deposit before you are allowed to activate the phone. Which means you'll be able to back out at any point before they want the money and you are locked into anything. You arent going to get a month into your contract and then get hit for a deposit.

I was your exact position. They required a $500 deposit from me.

Hope that helps.

I'm 19, I got my iPhone when I was 18 with no previous credit history.

I got slapped with a 200 dollar deposit which will be given back after a year.

pretty ******.

When did you find out about the deposit?

You'll find out about the deposit when you activate your iPhone and select a phone plan and data plan. The deposit can range between $200-$500 and is refunded after (12) months of continuous service, if you make your payments on time and your service doesn't get shutoff every other month. You'll probably have to return the iPhone if you are unable to meet the credit check and make the necessary deposit amount. The deposit is for the service plan, not the iPhone...:(
