Sometimes when I pull my iPhone out of my pocket and push the button to wake it up, nothing happens. I try a hard-reset by holding the two buttons for over 10 seconds and nothing happens. The only way to get it to wake up is to connect the charger, and then the white apple logo indicates that it's booting.

Recently I have had to connect and disconnect the charger several times before it would come back to life.

In every occasion, the battery is over half-charged and usually runs the rest of the day without needing a charge. Just the act of putting it on the charger somehow wakes it up.

This used to happen only once every week or so, but it's been happening more and more. It now happens more than once every day.

It's an iPhone 3G, about a year old, not jailbroken or anything. It has suffered one drop, but not very severe--the glass is still in tact and other than this it works normally.

I've reset it and wiped it clean and reinstalled several times and still have the problem. Upgrading the firmware to 3.1 did not help either.

If you have any ideas, please let me know.
Thanks,
....Josh
