The phone slipped from my arm rest into a cup of fruit, with juice from pineapples and peaches in it. The top, 1/6th portion of the phone was submerged into it for a few seconds, until I noticed. I pulled it out and everything was working just fine. After a few seconds, finger gestures wouldn't work and you could only select things. Now the bottom half of the screen doesn't work, while the top half does, and the phone constantly turns off and on. I tried turning it off, but after 5 seconds the white/silver apple pops up for a few seconds, then it turns off, then the apple, etc. The water indicator is still white.

Has anyone had dealings with juice from actual fruit and the iphone? Do the common heat/air drying techniques work? (phone just continuously restarts)

Or should I just go to the apple store and say that the screen is half defective, because that problem is widely known?

Wtf

How can you even remotely justify taking it back and saying that the screen is defective after your dropped it in a fruit cup? Frigtard.

Asking advice on how to defraud Apple is just poor form.

I'm not talking about jailbraking etc, but flat out lying to Apple on how you ruined what you bought and didn't take good enough care of it is something you just need to confess and get it done.

You walk into an Apple store, tell them you dropped it in a fruit cup, give them back the iPhone, and politely say "I was going to lie to you but I decided to tell the truth" and maybe they might have some sympathy. If I were the genius I'd take it away and inform you that you don't deserve to own one.

1. This forum was mainly to see if normal drying techniques worked with fruit juice
2. Not completely, but i guess partially my fault that the case apple recommends doesn't have enough grip to not slide off of a leather arm rest, into a cup in my cupholder..
3. LoL and like apple doesn't defraud ppl, they are defrauding ppl by saying there 3g phone is half priced when its actually 160 bucks more than the 399 version out now over its life time. How about that propietary headphone jack on the original, like it? How about all the gas you spent to get your apple headphones replaced because the left earbud went out? Oh there's more and worst but i ranted enough.

haha don't deserve to own one? My phone doesn't even have a scratch on it, and its been almost a year. This was the only incident. I still have my plastic front cover on it from when i bought the phone. How about you?

Wow, I have to give you all credit though, you fanboys are serious about your apple products.

If the water indicater didn't change colors then I would lie like the Devil to Apple and get a replacement.

But I can understand people who say don't defraud Apple  ....No, I can't really defraud the hell outta them.

One, that's AT&T. Apple has no part in AT&T's pricing, thus Apple is not guilty of fraud.

Two, that's just weird. Take that thing off. The glass can't even be scratched by keys.

Really, I thought apple.com was the one advertising half price for the 3g iphone on their website?

They are, because it is. From them. They have no part in AT&T's upped pricing.

I would have to disagree. They advertise the low price which is possible through ATT subsidy. So they are taking ATT into account and taking credit for the cheap up front price but they fail to notify the buyer of the long term pricing. So they are selectively choosing to leave out information. But thats just my opinion. They are only acknowledging ATT when it benefits them.

If the juice did'nt get into the headphone jack, would the indicator still change color?

They may tell be the way it responds that it isn't just the screen is broken.

Really it's up to you if you want to lie, comes down to how you want to live your life, dosen't it.

I mean you could just throw it away and claim for a new one on insurance. Or swap it form someone elses when the're not looking (after re-setting it).

Ge I can think of lots of dishonest ways to get a new one.

What are you expecting as a replacment? A 3g phone, or would you be happy with a clearance 2G model.

Jeez you guys are tough on the poor poster. They guy has just lost his Iphone......I would be devestated and would think of any way possible to get a replacement of the big company.....me being the poor little man.

Seriously, try telling the truth. If it back fires on you so be it, but you will feel better for it. Besides less than 2 weeks until you upgrade anyway!!!

Ps. I got my insurance which costs £7.50 ($15) a month but covers water damage so I am far less careful with my iphone then I ever was. I wouldn't even talk in the rain before I had it, but now I am happy to. On the flip side of that, I refuse to put it in a pocket that has anything else in...it might scratch!!!!! ;-)

Lol you guys make it seem bigger than it is.

How many times have you all cheated or lied to your friends or family or employers, or on test or to the IRS? How many of you guys go around killing insects or plants without even thinking twice? Or treating other animals like **** and being judgmental?

Trust me if I weighed my heart against yours, mines would probably come out on top.

I never really said I was going to lie, I was more asking if I should omit that information.

Yea but it is really eating me up inside, asking a guy that has a little less than a billion dollars to fix my phone for free.

If he didn't want me dipping my phone in a fruit cup, he shouldn't have called it an apple. LOL

anyways, I went and got it replaced for free. Since the indicator was still white and only half of my digitizer wasn't working and everything else was working.
