iPhone Dual Dock Responds to Appple Remote

According to the page on the Apple store concerning the bluetooth headset:

• Control playback from a distance using an Apple Remote.

Is this a feature built into the dock? I don't see the IR receiver or is somehow built into the iPhone-I'm guessing the former. But at lease now there isn't some dumb black dot in the middle of the dock.
