Has anybody gotten any word on whether or not the iPhone contract will include a higher early termination fee than regular phones? It seems necessary, otherwise they'll have a bunch of people terminating their plans and then flipping the phones on eBay.

I wondered about that too. And it may be worth it at the very beginning, specially if there are shortages.

It doesn't work this way. If you terminate the contract in the 1st 30 days, you have to turn the equipment you bought with that contract back in. After 30 days, I'm sure iPhones won't be nearly as hard to get. If you buy one, and you want to keep it to sell it, you are tied in for a minimum of 30 days per the AT&T terms of service.
My contract with AT&T said I had to return the hardware if I canceled within the first 6 months... So I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like that.
That sounds like what will probably be the case. That's not going to stop the eBayers though as you can simply transfer the contract to whoever wins the auction. I don't think the 2 year plan is holding many people back...it'll be the difficulty in getting an iPhone that prevents most people from buying one.
