I've been hoping that one would be developed for some time now. This is looking promising.

Here's a video from youtube of someone who developed a mini keyboard that connects through the dock connector for a Jailbroken iphone. Hopefully, this can be developed further, to something that can work on all apps and with a full size (maybe foldable) keyboard.

I agree with the person that posted that he doesn't see much of a benefit in speed with the physical keyboard. It looks clumsy to me. Still, it's nice to see people working on furthering development in aftermarket tools for the iPhone.

having an external keyboard is like driving a ford f350 then putting a small trailer on the back

Cool now can we please get an external game controller now? it sucks to play ROMs on an iphone, and icontrolpad is taking to long. i mean thats actually useful. no one needs an additional keyboard.

Now THAT I would pay for!

I think this would be great for those that are going to text while driving anyway. They might as well get this so they can more quickly get back to proper driving.

VERY nice! I wonder how hard it's going to be to get one when they're released.

I intend to find out. :)

I have the NES emulator, but since it isn't worth much more than showing off my jailbroken iPhone, and turning heads, I only have about five ROMs loaded, and I have neer bothered with any of the other emulators.

With the iControlpad, I would be in a much different situation. ;)

I have looked into the external keyboard myself. It would be nice to know how to do only if someone would make some kind of "word" programs. I was hoping to get one of those roll-away keypads made from fabric. I could keep it in my glove compartment and use it when i needed to. I have a laptop, but I dont always carry it, so i thought it would be nice to do my e-mails, or word-excel-etc with a full keyboard. The roll-aways are nice, and you just stuff it under the seat or something.

at the moment the iphone is too limited, but i can see it down the road on some phone. Heck, with myvu glasses, the roll-away keyboard and a mini mouse the thing would be great. I know someone would ask "why not just take your laptop?"... well they are still to big, even the mini's

BTW: anyone find a way to get the myvu glasses to work on the 3g?

you're right, balancing an external keyboard on your lap and holding your iphone with one hand and hunting and pecking with the other is MUCH safer while you drive.

I seen something similar to this a few weeks ago that you put your iphone in it has a monitor that shows your iphone screen and keyboard. It looked like a laptop with an iphone holder.

You can't buy it yet, but I wish I saved the site address.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

I just want a way to hook a USB keyboard to the dock. They all work pretty much the same so it would be very versital. Then I could use a small two handed keyboard for doing terminal work or longer emails when on a trip and not bringing my MacBook Pro.
