Has anyone purchased a new iPhone on facebook marketplace before? Down here in south Florida I see the iPhone 15 Pro Max 256gb - 1tb for $850 new

That price seems too good to be true.. I would proceed with caution.

Buying Apple on FB is too risky, especially a supposed 'new' phone. I would stay away.
