Have an iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 13.3.1 with a 16" MBP with the latest updates to Mac OS X, but my iPhone fails to synch. I get the error message: The iPhone xxx could not be synched because the synch session failed to start. this happens with any cabled connection as well as with the wifi synch. Any suggestions? Have restarted everything.
 
You're not doing anything wrong- it's the software that's screwed up. Only thing you can do is wait for a software update for your Mac & phone & cross your fingers it might fix the problem
