Iphone froze and then restarted in recover mode!!!! Help

Hello.

I have a unlocked 1.1.3 US Iphone.

I was looking at the weather and on google maps when mu iphone froze! after about 3 mins it started itself back up again... IN RECOVERY MODE!!!

What does this mean... is it bricked or can i just use the last backup to put it right!!

Please dont read this and think 'i cant b bothered to answer'!!!

Step 1, reboot by holding the power and home button until the screen goes black, then returns with the apple logo. It may boot back to normal just by doing that. If it doesn't, just plug it into iTunes and restore it. And then calm down.
