iPhone FROZE, won't restart

So, my phone will not restart, even when I plug it in, I hold the top button down forever, and I can't do anything...it will plug in and it sees the phone, and I can backup everything, but it just sits in the mail...doing nothing. saying "connecting"

if only you could just take out the damn battery!

I've done a system restore, will that keep my contacts up to date?

Hold down the home button and the top button at the same time.

I tried that, and nothing! its the strangest thing, you would think plugging it in would be a direct over ride, but nothing!

try this again, but hold the home and sleep button for several seconds until something does happen.

this sounds like what my defective phone was doing every time I enabled wifi

This happened to me and holding home + top button worked just fine. It's the soft reset, should work. (Just like ipods)
