I woke up this morning to a surprise in which my Gmail inbox on my iPhone only showed e-mails that I had sent to myself. I checked my inbox online and it was the same thing. I went to the All Mail box in my Gmail and transferred my most recent 50 e-mails into my inbox hoping it would fix itself. Now, the e-mails I transferred show in my inbox online but not on my iPhone which still only shows e-mails that I have sent to myself along with e-mails I have sent to other people and few e-mails from friends.

I deleted my account from my iPhone three times hoping when it synced it would fix the problem but it's still the same. How did this happen and what do I do to fix it? Very frustrating.

Also, I recently set up the Mail app on my mac to receive all my e-mail from the same account. Would this have anything to do with it? Thank you :[

Check the fetch settings in Settings>Fetch New Data. Under the Fetch part, check to see if Manually is selected. If it is then change it to Every x Minutes. This will fetch new data from the GMail servers. This settings may of been changed some how accidently.

If you set the Mail app to use POP, the default is for most POP clients to remove messages from the server after retrieving them. So yes, this definitely could have caused the problem you are having. If you want to leave the messages in gmail, and view them via the Mail app, you can use IMAP instead. Careful about removing the account from Mail now, as it could delete the messages it downloaded. Add a new account as IMAP, get it working, stop the POP version from checking automatically, then you can copy your messages back up to Gmail using drag and drop to the IMAP account folders.
