Iphone got hung while upgrading

i downloaded 3.0 yesterday... and while trying to upgrade it stuck saying " checking upgraded software" for almost 45 mins.. i then unplugged the usb cable and tried to restore iphone again.. but it again got stuck in " checking restore software "... why is this happening to me ????

2 days back i upgraded the itunes from 7XXX version to 8., the latest one... i upgraded my iphone in the older version of itunes.

please suggest what to do...

I asked this same question in other threads. Mine took almost an hour to finally complete the sync. But here is what I found out, the first sync takes much longer with an OS update but once it is finally completed, they will be much shorter. Everything is copied from your iPhone on the first sync, after that only new data is copied. I confirmed this to be true, as my syncs are much faster now.

now i am not able to restore also.. what u want me to do ???

first my OS was 2.0.. and i upgraded it to 2.2.1 in 30 mins max.. but the new OS 3.0 took much more time...

so i should wait for 1 hour or so for it to restore ???

OS 3.0 is much bigger than 2.0 was to 2.2.1. Do the sync no matter how long it takes. After it is done check your iPhone, relax and look over the new features. When you sync your iPhone again and it should be much faster.

just download the 3.0 ipsw(easy to google) and put your phone into DFU mode(google that if u dont know, or youtube rather) then choose the file you downloaded when itunes detects the iphone in restore mode

EDIT: DFU mode part is assuming your phone isnt doing anything at all

ok... i will try that... another question.. i have installed some 3rd party softwares like.. password safe.. and it contains all my accounts... UN and passwords.. will i be able to recover that.. i backed up my phone.. before installing 3.0

if yes, please tell me the procedure.... and how long did it take for you guys.. to install 3.0 ??

yea as long as u did a back up u will be fine.

the actual download depends on your internet connection, but the restore/install i wouldnt think takes more than 15-20mins max? depending on your comp.

ok.. i am in office now... i just downloaded the new itunes... shall i connect my iphone and do restore?? and then go home and upgrade to 3.0.

if i do so.. will i loose all my data ???

i backed up my phone.

when u click on sync.. then the phone gets backed up...you can see that message on top ... " backing up iphone".. something like that....

anyway.. i am in home now... i am trying to update again.... its almost 15 mins now.. and i still see "verifying iphone restore" ... any idea how much time will it take???i am so worried... hope everything will go fine...
