I have been trying to jailbreak my iphone and not having success. If you could help with problems i am having that would be much appreciated. I have tried quickpwn and when i enter DUI mode (or whatever its called), it does not load the IPSW (or whatever its called). it just sits there (even if i wait for hours for it to load).

SO I tried Pwnagetool. Everything worked successfully but when i tried to use the custom restore, it said my iphone was unable to restore and it made my iphone go into recovery mode (twice, after i tried again). I have a 2.2.1 iphone and i did download the bl39 and bl46 on my macbook, but i dont know if i have to add them to the computer in some way? I just left in the downloads. So if you could help or have a better iphone hack place, thatd be great!

My best advice is to find a Windows computer and use Quickpwn. I've not once been successful jailbreaking on my iMac and I've always had to resort pulling out my Windows laptop.

Trust me. It doesn't get any easier than Quickpwn on Windows.

but I got all my music on my mac. would it work if i copied that custom restore to my mac and then used it?
I do have a home computer thats a windows

sorry bout postin on the other thread. i didnt see this iphone hack thread at first.

It doesn't matter. Your computer doesn't have to be synced to the computer to run the jailbreak. And Quickpwn doesn't use that "custom restore" crap. Way too confusing.

You're not going to lose anything during the jailbreak. Your phone will be exactly the same except for the additional icon on your springboard (Cydia; do not use installer.

Sync with iTunes on the Mac (this is just for a backup, incase you screw things up).

Then, plug your iPhone into a windows machine. Make sure the firmware that you have on your iPhone is saved onto this PC somewhere. Run QuickPwn, and after you've finished you can carry on using it with your Mac again.

And as the poster above me said, make sure the check box for 'Installer' is unchecked. It's a waste of space.

Thanks. I should have mentioned that part. It's important.
