iPhone headphones no longer depress and lower volume.

For some reason, my iPhone headphones no longer register volume down clicks. For some reason, the button no longer "clicks inward."

I'm really frustrated because I have not damaged them or accidentally exposed them to abnormal usage conditions...

If your phone is still under warranty, take it and your headphones to the Apple store.

This happened to me recently. What worked for me was holding the home and sleep wake button until it said turn off phone and keep holdin until the apple logo comes up. Worked fine after that

Happened to my old 3G headphones. Walked in and they replaced it on the spot. Was out of the store in less than 3 minutes.

Is it normal that my minus seems to have a firmer click and travels a little further than the positive that while does click; it seems a little weaker and doesn't travel as far.

Its funny. I had this problem , went to the apple store. They gave me new earphones and the problem still continues. =/
