I am on a family iCloud plan with my wife. She takes a ton of pictures. She also sends a lot of pictures and videos via iMessage. That got me thinking about the efficiency of our iCloud storage. For example:
If I take a picture on my iPhone that file is about 3 MB. Then I send her the picture via iMessage, so 3 MB in my sent messages and then 3 MB in her received messages. Then she saves the picture to her Photos which are backed up to iCloud. On our iCloud plan, is that one picture now taking up 12 MB of storage? Is there, or could/should there, be a way for iCloud to recognize that it's the same file?
