iphone in a quarry

Hi,

I am wondering wether or not to get and iphone but I work in a quarry and it's a harsh dusty environment for any electrical device and was wondering how tough you think the iphone is ?

my phones survive pretty well except i usually find after a while a have problems with dust in the keys and a scratched screen, but obviously i would use a screen protector and the iphone doesn't have keys as such.

I thinks as long as you get a sealed case you should be fine, and only use it with Bluetooth or headphones. The thing can be run over by a Semi and still work, so I'd think you'd be fine. Although I recomend using a crappy phone at work, then just swaping out the SIM when you get ready to leave. I don't know about O2's contract policies, but in the US, if you signup for a new contract from at&t they'll give you a phone, then you can buy an iPhone and activate it that day and use the same SIM in both phones. Either way it is about the same, use a crappy phone while working, then just swap the SIM back into the iPhone at the end of the work day, unless you want the iPod features.

I agree with TEG. Like any other phone, the ports and other exposed areas can get gunk in them, so you should be careful, however with the proper protection I don't think you would have any problems at all.

The case I would reccommend for your specific situation is the iSkin Revo. I think it would be ideal for your situation, and it isn't that much money comparatively. My fiance has one on his iPhone and it is quite nice. It comes with an insert to keep stuff out of the docking port, a cover for the headphone port, a plastic cover for the main screen that comes off and stores easily and a small plastic disk that protects the camera. Its really nice, and would keep dust out of the nooks and crannies, and of course would make having a beautiful and fun little toy incredibly important business tool totally feasible.
