Hey all,

I'm about to order a iPhone on the applesite,
But I live in Europe so I have several questions.
1. Do all functions work in The Netherlands?
2. Will I be able to download all new software when it comes out?
3. Is it possible to just put a European SIM-card in it?

Thanks in advance,

Jelle

I don't know the specifics about the Netherlands, but if you are ordering a US phone, it will be locked to AT&T and you won't be able to use it with a European SIM. At least not unless you find a way to unlock it first.

If that isn't related to your question, ignore this.

I don't keep up with the latest on unlocking iPhones, so I don't know if it's been accomplished for the 3GS or not. I think it has for the 3G. There is a forum here in the iPhone section that is dedicated to hacks. Take a look there.

I would be surprised if the online US Apple store will send a phone to Europe.

Because If I order it in the US its 300$ which is like 250€
If I buy one here its 750€
I think that answers why I dont buy it here.

You do realize that this is an AT&T subsidized price that requires an AT&T contract, don't you? As I said, I would be really surprised if the US Apple store will sell you one in the Netherlands.

I tend to agree, as that price requires you to sign a 2 year AT&T contract at $60/month or whatever. I'd pop over to Belgium if I were you......
