I'm getting an iPod sometime in the near future (I don't know if I'm gonna wait for the 4G or just get the 3GS). I'm going to Europe for a month (July-August) and I'm wondering, will I be able to use my phone without spending tons of money because of international rates? Do they offer any kind of temporary plan so I can still use voice and data without being charged by the minute/kb? I'll definitely need some kind of phone over there but I don't really know how international rates work.

The US. I'm not exactly sure where in Europe I'll be (my dad is stationed in Germany, so we're just going to go over there and spend some time).
