iPhone in recovery but not restoring??????

I tried to change some setting on my phone this morning(i think it was from a cydia app, not winterboard, not settings, not boss prefs, but some other one). After i pressed the home button to apply the settings, the phone had the spinning wheel on a black screen, but then went to the apple logo as if it was rebooting. I walked away from the phone for a while and let it do its thing.

When I came back later it was still on the apple logo. After i saw this i remembered last time it happened and tried to do what i did before. Last time i plugged it into itunes and sent it into DFU mode. After that i restored it overnight and when i woke up it had come back on will all my previous apps from installer, cydia, and the apps store.

Im guessing that time something happened whith it and it restored it enough to turn it back on but not enough to erase all the data???

With it happening today, I tried all day to do this all over again and it never worked. It would start restoring and restore my phone, then it would say verifying software and it would go on forever. When it said verifying software the 'plug into itunes' would come up on the phone and itunes and the iphone would stay like this forever basically until i unplugged the phone and ctr-alt-del itunes. Everytime i restart my phone it will turn on, then go to the recovery screen.

If anyone else has had this happen please tell me what to do!!!!

Im going to try to restore it overnight again and see if that works

I'd rather not have to take it to an apple store. If i do take it in and they restore it do you think they will be able to tell if it was jailbroken???

If your phone had all of your Cydia apps on it still, after "restoring," you didn't restore it. You did something else.

Try this:

Plug your phone into your computer, and reboot the phone, while it is plugged in.

If that doesn't help, you need further instruction.

Please define what it is you mean by "recovery screen." What is actually on the screen? Is it blank? Do you see the iTunes plus USB cable icon? Is it an angry Steve Jobs waiving his hands in the air and speaking in a foreign language (Cyrillic perhaps?)?

Do not take it to Apple. You will void your warranty if you do.

Do you see an icon for your phone in iTunes?

Another option is to simply force your phone into recovery mode or DFU and connect to iTunes. You will get the message that your phone is currently in restore mode and iTunes must restore the phone (not exact language but you get the point).
