I am currently using my iPod in my car via an Aux input adapter. I put my headunit on CD and then my iPod sound goes thru the car stereo. I control from the iPod, not the HU.

If I get an iPhone, this should all work just the same for listening to music. Just plug into the iPhone's headphone jack. But what happens when a call comes in?

If I click to answer the call I'm thinking that the caller's voice will be going into my car stereo. That could be cool. But what about my voice? Will the iPhone mic (on the bottom of the phone) pick up my voice? Or will the iPhone expect that I have the iPhone headphones in with that external mic?

I think it'll now the difference between your Aux and it's standard earbuds with mic, i think you'll need to take the iPhone to your mouth and talk that way

What if I have the headphone jack plugged in for music in my car, and i have in car bluetooth set up as well...

Will the iPhone cut the music to the headphone jack, and allow Bluetooth to take over for the call?

Frankly, I don't think any of this can be answered until someone HAS one and tries it in a setup like yours. Or until you get it and try it out. There's just too many variables and Apple can't possibly address every question every person has about the device's capabilities. Some things will just have to be found out after the launch.

I've got the iPod-your-BMW adapter from the factory installed in my 530i, I'm wondering if it's going to sync with the iPhone...

For that i think we will have to wait till someone tested that, i think that in the beginning you will still have to take your iPhone to answer the call, but maybe in the software upgrades it will change.
