OK I've noticed there are alot of areas where people are giving info yet no hard or definitive facts are out there yet...
2 year contract...
Apple/AT&T removed the 2 year contract required legal text from the Ads and there have been rumblings that there is a prepaied apple SKU in the AT&T systems. The fact that this text was removed almost gurantees that there is some kind of option that doesn't require a contract as they would not have removed the 2 year part otherwise. They could get slapped with misadvertisement suits otherwise. They may end up requiring one but as of this time there is no 100% answer like we had a few weeks ago when the ads first ran.
Data Plan...
There has been no official word stating a data plan is required. There have been semi official statements that have said that a data plan is strongly RECOMMENDED though. Again no official info yet so its not 100% but unless AT&T has some kind of $40 data/voice plan they are likely to only hurt themselves. They are aiming this phone at normal users not just rich folk who don't care about what they spend.
Inventory...
Well as of today there is a bit more evidence that leads us to believe that there will be 100+ phones at the AT&T stores. There is no official number though (probably never will be) so you have to go by what makes sense. Apple and AT&T likely know very well what happened when Sony tried to push the PS3 at high costs with low volumes. Sure the suckers sold out at first but then everyone gave up trying and the hype died out by the time they managed to push more units out. Apple will likely try and have a glut of phones so they can get a good picture and also meet initial demand before the ZOMG NEW hype dies out.
Employees...
Look you know as much as the store employees know. Neither companies have given their employees actual product training yet. They probably won't get it till next week. Everyone here knows you call 5 stores and you'll likely get 5 different answers. Strangely though I've asked this myself to test and got the same answer...they know nothing. Its nice that your cousin's brother works for a company that happens to collect the garbage from the company that collects apple's trash but I can almost gurantee you these people are just made up 99% of the time.
Now yes I'm making a personal assessment of all the info out there so I could be completely wrong too but I think I've taken a good hard look and given an honest breakdown of what we really have between the 5000 posts on each subject.
