Hi everyone,
I'm buying an iphone x soon and will be leaving the country for a year starting September. I need to buy the phone here obviously since it will cost 250+ more in the EU. I'm trying to decide what phone insurance I should get based on my situation. Applecare plus is $200 and does not cover lost or stolen. If I broke the back of the x I would pay the 99 deductible and would have to get it shipped back to the states. I couldn't get it fixed at an Apple in Germany they said, which is incredibly frustrating. However, I could get the screen fixed in Germany they said.
Squaretrade says they cover you if you're traveling and will pay for shipping costs, but I'm wondering if they will actually replace the back of the iphone x like Apple care plus would. They say they cover "screen damage", so I'm not sure if the back of the unit would be covered. I'm thinking yes, since the repair would be less than the cost of the phone itself. Squaretrade is cheaper overall and has a lower deductible and apparently I could get my phone fixed at an Apple retailer (maybe I wouldn't have to ship it back to the States?). I'm not sure if they would reimburse me in Euros or if I'd have to eat the currency conversation.
Lastly, I am also considering Simplesurance since they offer theft protection, but I'm not sure how their coverage claims are.
Any advice or details appreciated!
