iPhone interference

I keep my phone on the charger on my desk at work, and it periodically causes a buzzing sound in my speakers...thats fine, i got usd to it...

My question is, what the hell is the thing doing??!?!? i have email set to check manually...is there anything else it's automatically doing that I can shut off???

RF is strange in that way
Normally the chatter you hear in the speakers indicates the phone is;
Talking to the tower to let it know its still out there
Incoming call/msg
Outgoing call/msg

Unless you want to shut off your phone (Airplane mode) then no nothing you can do.

It's either you have incoming mail or an SMS message. Just turn off the vibrate function when it's sitting on your desk all day?

Huh? What does vibrate have to do with speaker chatter. The first reply is correct, many phones cause this type of interference but GSM phones do this the most. Its just the cellular radio calibrating is signal. As a call or text comes in the noise gets louder and more constant. But the real issue is the speakers, poor shielding brings this effect out. I never get these sounds at home or in my car since both audio systems are well shielded.

As the original replier said, it's either incoming SMS/Call or outgoing SMS/Call but.. the phone usually talks with the tower every 30 minutes or so, it's pretty distinguishable when the phone is talking with the tower and when you've got someone ringing.

Basically just stick it in Airplane Mode or move it away from the speakers, even pointing it in a different direction could make difference.

vibrate doesn't matter. It's any time the phone checks the network and receives some sort of info. That happens fairly often...
