iPhone internet tethering EVER going to be available in the US?

Apple supports it but AT&T doesn't allow it yet. Supposedly they have plans for it in the future.
It's likely no US carrier, no matter who sells the iPhone, would allow it.
Sure, Verizon lets the Pre act as a hotspot but they don't need to worry about Pre users overloading the network. They have a great worry about that with iPhone users because we bring at&t to it's knees and would do so to any network.

And it's because of their bs that I'm actually using my data plan as much as possible. I'm paying for unlimited, I just want to see where "unlimited" ends for them
I love streaming Sirius/XM as often as possible!
I have a sense it will be much possible once the Ethernet backhaul AT&T is adding is ready. That way the 7.2 Mb/s will allow a better tethering expierience.

+1. I don't think AT&T is ready for the extra load right now. At least they aren't going after those who do tether. I suspect that those who do are a small minority and not enough for them to worry about.
There are several ways to go about it.... mywi runs $10 or so and yes you can get it from cydia. You can also add the repo sinfuliphone.com to cydia and then go into their section and upload the hack for your phone. That is what I did.... if I do pick up an iPad Ill drop the $$ for mywi so I can tether. I'm posting this from my laptop while tethered. Good luck.
