Just looking for reasons people chose their size who have an iPhone (or Android), iPad and Mac. I’ve had time with both the 11 and 12.9, but am unsure which one I want to make my 2-3 year device. Consensus has generally been to get the 11 as a companion and the 12.9 for laptop replacement.

My next iPad will unquestionably be my laptop alternative, but it won’t be my sole “main” device. I will eventually nab a Mac Mini for heavier lifting and bigger screen at home. I like the idea of the 12.9 for productivity—emails, course assignments, reading, taking notes and creating music. I also like that the 11 is easier to handle in general and slips into tinier/smaller spaces. Just curious how others went about their decisions and if there’s any lingering regrets.

I picked the 11" iPad Pro because the screen size was better suited for media consumption than the 12.9" iPad Pro. No regrets regarding my purchase! :)

Both make valid points. I wish the 11 was just a bit bigger...maybe somewhere in the realm of 11.5 - 12. I do prefer handling it more than the 12.9 overall. Was considering the multi-tasking aspect for school purposes. Fomo at its finest lol Appreciate the feedback.

Please check out the 11 or 12.9 discussion with plenty opinions. This thread can be merged in there, from the looks of it.

My post, from the looks of it, would seem to indicate I’ve done such research already, “Consensus has been...”. My question is regarding a specific use case. Therefore, I did not want it getting buried in a multi-page thread. Thanks

I wanted the bigger screen hence picked the bigger model. Wish I could do all my work on it but work is not there just yet.

As the big threat shows a thousand times, it’s mostly personal preference, there is no wrong or right. One person prefer the more compact device, the next doesn’t.

Strange as it may seem, I do not share that opinion which means it’s not a consensus (100%) but rather “the majority of users mean that...”

In my opinion, the 12.9” is a wonderful device that does everything I want it to.

General-adjective- common, involving or relating to most or all people.
consensus-noun- a general agreement.
You just used more words to say what I said in 3.
In other words, a lot of people (see iPad as Laptop Replacement and 11 vs 12.9 threads for examples) have commonly suggested the 11 as a companion and the 12.9 as a primary machine. I’m glad you like your 12.9. Is it your laptop replacement? Is it a complement to your MacBook or Mac desktop? Why did you choose 12.9?

What are you gonna do if you don't like the consensus? Buy the devices anyway because other people do?

Buy the things you're most comfortable with. You're welcome!

I don’t fully align or else I would’ve made the purchase off that alone. If you would stay on topic and provide feedback regarding your purchase decision, assuming you have one, I might have something to thank you for. As of now you’ve wasted 30 seconds of my time. I was bored though. So, you’re welcome for entertaining your stupid! :)

With all due respect, I was absolutely serious.

Are you going to make a decision based on the consensus, or on what feels right to you?

Don’t worry, I’m not going to start an argument with you. I won’t reply, so you get the last word. I‘m just curious.

I had the 11" iPad Pro (2018) but sold it and "downgraded" to the 10.5" iPad Air (2019). I found that I really only streamed Netflix/Hulu/HBO, checked email, iMessage and read (NYT & The Athletic), so the iPad Pro was overkill for my usage. Plus, I have 13" MBP that I use primarily for photo editing that I use quite a bit anyway. I originally purchased the IPP intending to edit my images on there, but instead shelled out for a MBP.

It's ultimately up to the end user and what works best for them.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you find that the Air is worth the price? I’m considering an iPad Pro 11 and a Mac Mini. However, I recently got an iPhone XS Max and have been pondering it and just a MacBook Air/Pro.

Just about everything I do on my iPad can be done between my phone and laptop. The only thing I’m really concerned with is notes. I enjoy taking notes sans paper.
