Help!!!

My IPhone is wont' start up. Last week when my phone "rang" (had it on ring and vibrate) when I slid to answer the slide got stuck and the phone kept vibrating for about 10-15 minutes. Finally, after pressing every button I could find, the phone shut down. Unfortunately, I was unable to restart the phone. I got online and read about the hard restart (holding down the sleep and start buttons simultaneously) didn't work.

I called Apple for help and removed the simcard and did lots of other things too numerous to say and finally it restarted sort of on its own. Haven't had any problems since.

Today while my phone was charging it shut down and I can't restart it again. Tried the hard restart and again it didn't work. Called Apple and they want me to return the phone for a "new" one.

My phone is only a few months old. I haven't even been able to find the time to download one song. Just using it as a phone and calendar so far.

Can anyone help me to restart this thing?

Thanks so much.

You have to hold down the sleep and home buttons longer than you did to get the iPhone to unfreeze. We found that having large picture files associated to the incoming ring is what froze our iPhone. Once we removed or replaced them with a smaller picture file, all was fine.

I held the buttons down for over a minute on several occassions and it still doesn't start up.

I will check the photo sizes if I can get the phone to work.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

iphone struggles

My boyfriend, who has t-mobile service just purchased an I phone through a friend of a friend. (which could be a red flag) It was supposedly unlocked and jailbroken. He put his sim card in and seemed to work for about a week. He then connected his phone to itunes and he had the box checked that does automatic updates. After that his phone went out. So on Sunday he ran across somebody that jailbreaks iphones we paid the guy 25 dollars he used what was called Quickpwn software, and he told us to never update through itunes because it will make the phone go down again. I also asked him if certain applications that can be downloaded could also cause his phone to go down and he said no...I'm no expert but I think that's a crock. But is it true? Personally why would the guy invest in the software if he wasn't having the same issues as everone else? But maybe I'm being to skepticle! So last evening my boyfriend is looking up apps and starts downloading them and what happen? You guessed it! This is the 2nd time that it's happened and want to know what preventative measure we can take to keep this from happening again, if it's not too late. I have heard a lot of people say that they have no problems with their phone once jailbroken and others say they are always having issues. There are so many stories out there and so hard to tell the true from the false! PLEASE HELP!!!!
