iPhone is now discounted & available on Apple's EPP...

For what it's worth, I overheard today while in a retail store that both 4gb and 8gb iPhones are now available on Apple's EPP (Employee Purchase Program) - under Personal (25% discount) and Family&Friends (15% discount). They're both a good amount of savings in my opinion... you can do the math, quite simple! Must be nice to either be an employee, or at least be related or be friends with one...

I guess this is nice for family/friends of employees along with part time employees who have been with Apple for less than one year.

Nope...if you click on the iPhone in EPP it still takes you to the regular Apple store for the regular prices.

For what it is worth, my sister said her boyfriend told her the same thing- that it has been added to the EPP. She's interested because she's thinking about getting one after seeing how much her boyfriend and I both love ours.

So why is this thread useless again? Is there discussion going on in another one about this?

The Apple EPP is for Apple EMPLOYEES only. The public cannot access it from the apple.com website. It is not the same as the education, government, or the 3rd party corporate EPP discount. Only Apple store employees can purchase this from inside (BOH) an Apple retail store. So this thread is NOT useless, since there are many out there who have friends and family relationships with an actual Apple employee. That is why I stated in the beginning that it "...Must be nice to either be an employee, or at least be related or be friends with one..." Because if you are one of those, then you can avail of the discounted prices via your friendly neighborhood Apple employee. This means that he or she will purchase it for you (even with your own credit/debit card) in Apple's secure intranet access (BOH only), and a few days later you will receive your brand new iPhone in the mail via FedEx directly to your address of choice in the US.

Here's the math for the iPhone:
(Apple Personal EPP) 8gb @ 25% off = $449; 4gb @ 25% off = $374
(Apple Friends & Family EPP) 8gb @15% off = $509; 4gb @ 15% off = $424

Hope this makes sense now to those who did not fully comprehend it from the top.

OK will have to take your word for it...I'd rather keep my job and pay the extra $100+ than work in Apple retail for the discount.

Wonder if they'll ever add it to Corporate EPP program I have...everything else is discounted except iPhone.

It's alreaady in the EDU store, you just won't be getting a discount on it...just like the iPods.

You still don't get it... you DO NOT have to work for Apple in order to get a Friends & Family 15% discount. The 8gb goes from $599 down to $509 after the 15% discount. Same calculation for the 4gb... All you need is to be a friend or be related to an actual Apple employee. But the Personal 25% discount applies ONLY to the Apple employee. This isn't rocket science.
