iPhone is being verryyy sluggish. Is this because I have not upgraded to 2.2? I am jailbroken and unlocked so I don'tknow how to update. Any ideas on why it's so slow??

Reboot.

If still feels sluggish.

Then either unjailbrake your phone or deal with one of jailbreak's many "features".

It is recommended by Apple and AT&T that you leave your device off overnight (about 10 hours) at least once a week. This will improve the performance of your iPhone. I know that probably, at most, 1% of iPhone users do this. I remember to do this only when my iPhone is being incredibly sluggish, like yours, and I remember to turn it off that night. I have found it to help so try it tonight.

If you have Winterboard, it is a very memory-leaky app so this may cause problems. I have Winterboard with a pretty intense theme but don't notice too much lag. When I enter apps like Cycorder and Safari (with a few pages open) I do notice lag but this is normal because these apps take a while to start up, especially is you have pages open in Safari. You can also try to close all pages in Safari and leave one page with no website open. This force quits Safari and it doesn't run in the background.

I have rebooted before but it seems to work for a little while and then goes back to being slow. I had winterboard on it but I took it off. I will try turning it off over night. How would I unjailbreak? Does that involve me having to lock and unlock my phone all over again?

I also have problems with the some applications just quitting I dont know if that has anything to do with the slowness but I am assuming so.

well I know that since you're unlocked you can't/won't want to update to 2.2.1.

However 2.1 felt very fast for a little while, but then began to slow down for me. 2.2 brought everything back up to speed maybe faster, and I haven't really noticed a difference with 2.2.1 other than less Safari crashes.

I have noticed everything up to 2.2.1, I have not upgraded because I am jailbroken and don't want to rejailbreak and install everything again.

To unjailbreak, you just have to restore. First backup all information to iTunes. iTunes automatically performs a backup when an iPhone/iPod Touch is connected
