iPhone issue suggesting contact in every text

Every time I receive a text from a particular contact in my phone, the notification on my iPhone 16 Pro running 18.1.1 says "Maybe Person" sent to me and "Person." It's been going on for over a month now, and I have no idea why. It's not a thread, just one contact. I know that in the past that contact has been in some threads with their email address instead of phone number due to changing numbers at some point. But the text thread is with their current phone number. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
