Hey guys, I recently got an iPhone from a friend at school at a very reasonable price
I dont know a thing about these unfortunatly, but I planned on simply using it as an iPod, because i have a phone already, and this one doesnt actually have a sim card....

My issue is, I have downloaded and connected it up to iTunes, and it has downloaded an update, but now says that I must have a sim card inserted to continue.

On the iPhone screen it says "No SIM card installed. Insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate iPhone."

:S is there any way to simply use it as an iPod without needing a sim card??

help appreciated!!

Just to clarify, i made sure it was working without the sim card, and i could get into iPod, and all those things, but now when i turn it on it asks for the same message...
is this irreversable?
or am i able to get it working again without the sim, just as an ipod?
:S

It seems to me like he restored it to factory setting wich means it must be activated again ... so either you activated it with someboday valid sim card... then you coul take the cars out ... or you just unlock it with the pwnage tool... then you could use it as an ipod or even put the sim from your other phone in there...

same problem

I'm getting the same message. I just want to use it as an itouch. Im trying to jailbreak it using the pwnage .. i'll let you know how it goes
