So after having a 2G iphone, happily unlocked, for over a year, I encountered by first problem. The other night it randomly entered restore mode, I hadn't synced my phone or updated it a couple of weeks. I restored, unlocked, and everything seemed good for about 5 hours then it did the same thing. Now it keeps doing the same thing, it could last minutes or hours. I have read of this happening, but this was from pre 2.0 days with no resolution. Any tips?
So now, I am at another crossroads. My tmobile contract is up in a month and I was planning on switch to AT&T when the rumored new phone comes out. Now this is making me consider switching sooner in order to just get this phone thing taken care of. THe problem is that my backup phone is just a regular candy bar-non smartphone. I am paying for data on my plan, and after talking to the tmobile people, removing data will automatically renew my contract. So I am either stuck paying an extra $30 a month for nothing until leave tmobile, or I switch for a 3G when the new phone is possibly coming very soon. My other option is to switch and then sell the 3g (since it is unlockable) or see if I can "save" my phone subsidy until something comes along.
Any help on either issue is appreciated.
