it would be nice as illistrated in the video it takes the most probable answer

like the qord quic - quick

but having the option to select anotherword entirely would also be nice, though some will argue that, that is just pure lazyiness and why dont people just type the word out blah blah blah.

either way it would be a nice added feature.

Meh I could go either way but the less little pop up windows I get the better.

I find the iPhone system to be more intuitive and I don't often find myself in a position where looking at a list of words and selecting the correct one would save me anymore time than just typing the last few letters, in fact I often continue typing my word out even if it pops up as an auto-complete option.

That said, I would prefer if in the iPhones virtual keyboard clicking the auto-complete / correct word would select that word instead of deselect it. I have encountered a few times where I will completely type out a word correctly and auto-correct will auto-uncorrect my word.

Once you get used to the iPhone keyboard you most likely won't want Any other keyboard.

Just for one main reason I use the iPhone is because of the keyboard. The first keyboard where I really didn't have to actually "try" to spellthigs correctly. It literally does it for me.
After a while the phone picks up on what words you use.

I'm sure every iPhone user wouldn't like to go through a list of words to choose which one you meant either.

I agree, I hate that you have to tell it NOT to correct a word.

This. This, this, this. Nothing drives me more insane.

Auto fill, and custom dictionary and it goes something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ut9_W6-RlH8, skip to 5:15.. tell me what you think!

No. It looks way more complicated than just finishing the word. I find the iPhone's auto-correct to be quite good.

I already have to keep looking back and forth between the keyboard and the text I'm typing. That 'word-row' would add a THIRD thing I have to look at while I'm typing. It's too much.

Yes, I hate having to click the word to stop it from being used. That's exactly backwards from all other auto-correction methods. Not intuitive at all, but I suspect Apple felt it had to do something different.

It also means, that if you don't pay attention, you end up with words you didn't type. Like "by" for "ny" (New York).

The iPhone method is okay for people who can't spell and/or want to type super fast. But if you're using technical terms, it's a pain in the rear.

I prefer soft keyboards that present alternative spellings to choose from.

Of course, if Apple wasn't such a control freak, we could replace the keyboard as you can on other phones, so everyone would be happy.

Meh. I like it the way it is.

The simple popups are nice. A whole list of words would just make me cringe at T9 again.

I like the suggestions. Sometimes, the iPhone will suggest a word that has nothing to do with what I'm writing. But I'm not going to switch to this phone just for that feature.

I think having control over the dictionary would be awesome. I can't tell you how many time auto-correct sees "for" as "fir" or "did" as "dud". Fir and dud are two words that I've probably never intentionally typed (except in this post of course:D) so it would be nice to either delete them from the dictionary or at the very least lessen their "strength" in the dictionary.

Exactly should have just quoted you lol

Wgen I tyoe thid on my iphone

I get: When I type this on my iPhone

You'd rather stop and hit "ok" 4 times in that one sentence?

I understand your example, but stuff like that happens about 0.25 times per sentence. So in a 20 sentesnce e-mail I have to stop and say 'ok' 5 times and you'd prefer to stop 80 times instead?

Seems like 1 step forward and 10 steps back.

If you type that poorly, don't type at all.

If you type that poorly, don't type at all.

Until they come out with an iPhone with an 12" wide keyboard I think it is beyond ridiculous to blame users for having fingers larger than keys.

I understand that phones have to be small. That's WHY they invented predictive text. To come here and essentially say "We don't need predictive text at all! Just get smaller hands" sounds like the kind of thing you must have just typed without saying it out loud.

Because you certainly must agree that it sounds terribly silly once you say it out loud? Right?
