iPhone Keynote Remote Ad Hoc Problems

Hey guys,
Having problems with getting my iPhone connected an ad hoc network that I make with my macbook:

I connect to it under setting on my iPhone and I get the tick and all, however, in the top left it doesn't give me the wifi symbol, just behaves as if no wifi:

Hence I get this with the keynote app:

Wondering if anybody has had this problem and could help me sought it out,

Maybe it needs to be a full wi-fi network, and not an ad-hoc one?
