So, after countless iPhones, I finally left my 15 pro in a hot car for around a hour.

When I got it back, the phone was HOT and didn't let me do anything but emergency calls.

Is there a way I can understand if damage occurred to the battery or other components? Maybe run a diagnostics at the Genius Bar?

Can't hurt to take it in to a store.
This happened to me with my iphone 7. Went to lunch and left it in the car. Came back and found a message saying my phone had overheated. It cooled down with the car AC on and came back to life in about five minutes. It worked fine after that and I never thought twice about it.

You left... the hottest iPhone yet... in the hottest climate yet... and in a non-ventilated enclosed area?!

Are you trying to make iPhone soup?!

It's fine. My iPhone X used to display that warning after sitting in my windshield mount for an hour during summer when it was 110 in Phoenix. I had to stop using the mount because it happened daily. The battery lasted 4 years before I had it replaced..

Billions of people left their devices in a locked hot environment annually.

You're not different.
