I use a money clip that has a magnet. I was wondering if it is safe to place my iphone in the same pocket as the money clip or will it be damaged by the magnet? The magnet damaged a hotel key card once but only because I foolishy snapped the money clip shut so that the magnet held down the key card. Otherwise, credit cards are fine being in the same pocke as the money clip.
by the way, YES I know writing about this sort of minutae does make me ridiculous.

No this is definitely a good question...there is nothing ridiculous about it. I too damaged a hotel key (on a cruise line) about three times until I figured out what was wrong.

Unfortunately I don't have your answer, but I'm sure some intelligent folk on these forums will express their educational opinion.

The critical components should be well protected from any potential damage. Also there is no magnetic recording media inside like a mini-hard drive, etc..
